Three municipalities were amalgamated in 2015 and this meant that all existing buildings and shops were rolled into the current R.M. of Oakview. The Council of the R. M. of Oakview have been discussing the replacement of municipal shops in our municipality. With the municipality covering a large geographical area, the location of infrastructure, municipal buildings and equipment is a big decision since it is key to providing an acceptable level of service to our rate payers.

When considering the possible building of new municipal shop(s), Council felt it important to get ratepayer’s suggestions as to the best location(s) so that their thoughts could be taken into consideration.

The communities of Rapid City and Oak River will continue to have their L.U.D. shops and equipment to continue to serve the needs of the Local Urban Districts.

Please carefully read through the different options and respond with which option you believe will best serve the interests of the municipality and its residents. Please be assured that the Council of the R. M. of Oakview will carefully consider your responses when making this decision.

Options being considered:

1)     One large municipal shop located in a centralized location in the municipality.

2)     Re-build shops in Oak River and Rapid City.
