Oak River Elementary School

A Place To Grow Together

The Oak River School is a Kindergarten to Grade 6 facility. It is a small school environment in which the students receive a lot of teacher attention. The school, because of its small environment, has a high education standard, an up to date computer lab with Internet access, as well as a recently built library, which provides students with a broad range of information.
Their goal is to encourage every student to reach his or her potential within a supportive environment.

Its Learning Beliefs:
– Learning is best achieved when the needs to the child are considered and addressed in a safe, positive environment.
– Learning involved students actively participating in a variety of challenging experiences, including play.
– Together, students, staff, families, and community members contribute to the growth of the whole child.
– Learning is a lifelong process built on meaningful experiences.

Students at Oak River have the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of sports within phys-ed class such as volleyball, baseball, basketball, badminton, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, skating, curling, soccer, and track.  Annual field trips to historic and educational sites are regular, and vary from grade to grade. The local children continue their high school education at Rivers Collegiate Institute in Rivers, Manitoba (located 15 miles southeast of Oak River).

A Day Care Facility opened up in the school on February 4, 2013. For more information please contact the Villages United Early Leaning Centre at 204-764-2704.
